Page 24 - LS_Grizzly Bear Story
P. 24
Worksheet
Let’s look at the first page of the worksheet portion (the first page after the story with the bear, thinking, feeling and behavior icons) of our story. We will be talking about our “ABCs”. This is important for all of these Coping Skills stories.
“A” is an activating event or experience. In our story a bear confronts each man. In real life, it could be a test or when someone calls you a name.
“B” is your belief system that is what you tell yourself about “A”. Your thinking could be based on what is really going on and would be “Good Thinking” or it could be biased on things that are not true or don’t make sense and be “Stinky Thinking.”
“C” is the emotional and behavioral consequences of “B .”
That is the way you feel and behave. If your thinking is Stinky, your emotions will be “Not OK” and your behavior will be “Thumbs Down.”
If your thinking is good then your emotions will be “OK” and your behavior
“Thumbs Up.”
