Unfortunately for Fraid, his Stinky Thinking and fearful emotions made him unable to accept and learn what he needed to learn to succeed. And worse, it made him easy prey for those who would take advantage of his Stinky Thinking.
The fox told Fraid what he wanted to hear. “Of course I am just an old dog who has wandered away from the neighboring farm. That adult owl in that high tree is just being foolish or maybe trying to trick you into doing something you don’t want to do.”
There are those in your life who will agree with your Stinky Thinking so that they can take advantage of you. You will not learn what you need to learn to succeed and it will be easy for you to believe what they tell you. The fox told Fraid, “Why don’t you jump down to the ground where it is safe and I will tell you more about how those grownup owls are going to trick you.”
That was exactly what Fraid wanted to hear. He wanted to believe that his Stinky Thinking was accurate. He wanted to believe that he did not have to do the difficult or scary things being requested of him. When given the opportunity to do what he wanted to do, he did not think about the consequences or question the possibility that Smartest’s lessons were correct.
Unfortunately, Fraid had no more lessons.
