One young Smooth Tail snake however, did things differently. Her name was Tanya. Whenever she saw someone doing something that they should not do, she would wiggle over to a grown-up snake and complain that so-in-so was doing this-or-that and that the grown-up snake should stop them.
Sometimes, the grown-up snake would tell Tanya that she should not tell a grown-up about this situation and that she should handle it herself. However, sometimes the grown-up snake would solve the problem for Tanya.
Tanya kept on going to the grown-ups whenever another youngster would not share with her or said or did something she did not like. This was very unsnake like and one day,
one of the grown-up snakes by the name of Stella, took Tanya aside to explain to her that what she was doing needed to change.
“Tanya,” said Stella, “I have been teaching young snakes how to get along for many years but somehow, I failed to teach you how to deal with disagreements with others. I will take the time to explain it to you now.
Just because you want something or want to do something does not mean that you must have it or must do it.
