Hello, Cosmos Crow here. I would like to tell you a story that has been passed down by many, many generations of crows. You see, crows like most animals, have what is called an oral history. We teach lessons by telling stories because we can’t write like humans.
Can you picture a crow standing on a branch with a pencil in one claw, trying to write down something that just happened? We just can’t do it and still hang on to the branch. So we tell stories, some of which go way back in time.
This particular story is very old but it is told to all young crows as an important lesson. It is about humans and how sometimes they don’t take advantage of opportunities.
Now, you need to understand that taking advantage of opportunities is very important to crows. Let me ask if you have ever seen a skinny crow? Of course not! Whenever and wherever there is food, we take advantage of it. We don’t miss any opportunity to eat. This story helps us understand that Stinky Thinking can cause us to miss many opportunities. This is the story.
There once was a Young Man who lived in these parts many years ago. It was a time not long after the first European pioneers had arrived in this country. He lived in a log cabin deep in the woods with his wife and family. Life was difficult in those days. You had to hunt for food and make many of your own tools.
