From this point on, US Navy service records are in the name of George A. Craig 1947-1948: At some point Uncle George was assigned to USS Siboney (CVE-112).
 USS Siboney (CVE-112) was one of the Commencement Bay – class escort carriers, initially named Frosty Bay. Her man was changed to Siboney on April 26, 1944, making her the second ship in the Navy names after the town near Santiago, Cuba, where US Troops landed during the Spanish-American War.
After port calls at Saipan, Manila, Hong Kong, Guam, and Pearl Harbor, she arrived at San Diego January 23, 1946. The carrier deployed to the western Pacific again from February 15, 10 May 7, 1946.
Siboney stood out of San Diego on June 9, 1947, en route, via the Panama Canal Zone, to her new homeport, Norfolk, VA. The carrier arrived on June 26, 1947, and operated between Norfolk and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, until November when she was inactivated.
The Daily Personnel Diary for USS Siboney, dated October 1, 1947, shows that Uncle George was transferred to the USS Midway (CVB-41) as of September 24, 1947. Muster rolls show him on ship December 1, 1947.
 USS Midway (CVB-41), namesake Battle of Midway, nicknamed Midway Magic, was laid down October 27, 1943 and launched March 20, 1945. Commissioned September 10, 1945 and Decommissioned April 11, 1945. She was in service from 1945-1992. USS Midway is an aircraft carrier, of the US Navy, the lead ship of her class. Commissioned a week after the end of WW11, Midway was the largest ship in the world until 1955, as well as the first US aircraft carrier too big to transit the Panama Canal. She operated for 47 years, during which time she saw action in the Vietnam War and serviced as the Persian Gulf flagship in 1991’s Operation Desert Storm.
