No matter how much you might wish this not to be true, there will always be “unicorn types” in your life. You can probably think of such a person right now. Someone who likes to make fun of the others, who may be less fortunate or of a different race or whatever. There may even be a group of “unicorns” in your class at school who stick together, excluding others and ridiculing them.
It is important that you recognize “unicorn” behavior and avoid engaging in it yourself. You should be willing to point out to others when they are engaging in “unicorn” behavior.
If you tell them, “What you are saying is not nice and even if it is true, there is no reason to talk about someone like that,” you are being strong and helpful. If they choose to ignore you or possibly ridicule you, then they are well on their way to having a full grown “unicorn horn” and may never be able to change their “unicorn ways.”
