CONCEALED CARRY LICENSE
The purpose of the Shenandoah Crime Prevention and Improvement District is to promote and encourage security in the area included within the District and to promote and encourage the beautification and overall betterment of the District. The Board functions to carry out this objective for the citizens of the district. The nine-person Board meets bimonthly and supports a variety of initiatives from traffic cameras to additional Sherriff’s Department deputies to patrol our streets. Beginning last year the Board has begun a series of educational classes to help residents with issues brought to our attention by district residents. Some of the issues include Louisiana Castle Law, concealed carry, meetings with our elected representatives, speed bumps and park security. This month we will address one of these subjects with a special class in June.
On June 25th our class will address two subjects. The first part of the class will be about obtaining a Concealed Carry license within the state of Louisiana. This will include the concealed carry class and a trip to the range that day. The cost will be $125.00 for anyone wanting the license. The actual license class and range time is limited to 18 individuals, but anyone can come and listen for free. As an added incentive, SECPID will be conducting a drawing in which 10 individuals will receive
the training and range time for free. To enter the drawing you must be 21 years of age, be a resident of Shenandoah Estates and no more entries than one per household. The class will be taught by Ron Reynolds of
Part two of the class concerns how to react during a police stop when you are armed. The Louisiana State Police will provide information regarding vehicular stops and incidents when you are stopped while walking or standing and you are armed. This is an important subject to many of our residents as more citizens elect to be armed but are unfamiliar with proper procedures when they must also interact with law enforcement officials. No one wants any of our residents injured because of a simple mistake and the Board hopes to spread the word with these educational classes.
The events will be held at 11 a.m. at the St. Andrew’s Church, Friendship Hall 17510 Monitor Avenue. All events will be held on non-game days and there will be light refreshments! Come out, meet your SECPID representatives and your great neighbors.
