Page 37 - Mousy Mouse Has a Bad Day
P. 37

Worksheet
Mousy was initially happy with her parent’s “new” carriage. We are frequently in a positive place when something “good” happens but just like with Mousy, we too often let the Opinion of others change what we tell ourselves into something negative. After Helen’s comment, Mousy’s behavior changed. She was angry, probably pouted and was mean to her father.
Most children can see how foolish this was of Mousy. But the important point to understand is that it was not what Helen said but rather what Mousy told herself after Helen’s comments that changed everything. We can not change others and we should not demand that others be kind, fair or honest but we can evaluate the opinions of others and make our own decisions about these opinions.
In some cases their opinions may be correct and we should pay attention to them but in others, as is frequently the case, they are the result of another’s Stinky thinking and should not influence us.
1. What was Mousy thinking when she first saw the new carriage? How was she feeling?
That the carriage was beautiful and she was very happy.
2. All of her friends thought the carriage sounded great but then something happened, what was it?
One of her friends made fun of it because it was “Used.”
3. After Helen’s comment about “used,” what was Mousy telling herself about the carriage?
That her dad was foolish and that everyone would make fun
of her.
