Art Lancaster, the developer of the proposed Tiger Point subdivision, and Mickey Robertson, with MR Engineering & Surveying, LLC, brought a preliminary plat map of the proposed subdivision on Tiger Bend Rd. They answered questions and addressed SHA residents’ concerns about the new development. The 9-acre development will have 52 zero-lot homes, two retention ponds, and green space in back as a buffer, as well as in front for the subdivision sign. The development is between Oak Pointe and Shenandoah Bend Apts. One of the streets in the new subdivision will connect to New Market St. off of Confederate. This is a city ordinance that, if there is potential for street connection, there must be a connection. They noted that the city did a traffic study and determined there will be negligible traffic impact. The homes will be very similar to the ones in Oak Pointe, and will be built by the same builder. Tom asked, and the developer committed, to sharing costs and installing cameras at the entrance to their subdivision, since it will become another entrance into Shenandoah. The project will be presented to the Planning and Zoning Committee at their meeting on Monday, April 15.
Secretary’s Report – Motion made and passed to accept the minutes of the last monthly business meeting as published in the Newswatch.
Vice President’s Report – Don introduced Tyrrell Bordelon who will be recommended to Sen. Bodi White as his representative to the SECPIC Board. Don will present Tyrrell to Sen. White within the week.
Treasurer’s Report –Mike - Mike reported receipts in March of $3,064.29, which includes $1,000 received from SECPID to go toward the cost of flags. Expenses in March totaled $4592.64, which included the expense of sending the 2nd Notice/Welcome letters. YTD receipts total $18,981.32. The Shenandoah Homeowners Association dues remain at $30 per year. Please send in your dues, or you can pay them via PayPal on the website. (shawebwatch.com).
Security Report –Tom - Tom reported that the cameras being installed on Malvern Hill at Altus and on Fleetwood at Achord should be up and running by the end of this month. Tom also reported that SECPID is in the process of purchasing a hand- held radar gun to be housed at the Kleinpeter substation for the exclusive use of the Shenandoah Patrol Deputies. SECPID has asked that the city change the school zone signs on Antioch to ones with flashing lights. They will leave the base of the old one for us to use as a driver-feedback radar sign. Tom noted that no stats were available for March yet, but they will be printed in the Newswatch as soon as possible. The National Day Out Against Crime will be held on Nov. 2 at St. Andrews Methodist Church from 12-3. The next SECPID meeting will be held May 21 at 6:30 at the Jones Creek Library. Det. Jordan Webb will do a presentation of the Neighborhood Initiative.
Membership Report –Mike - Mike reported that we had 647 paid members as of the end of March and also that 71additional members paid as of this meeting date, for a total of 718 members YTD. Mike noted that the 2nd letter mail-out was very successful with 34.9% of the homes in Shenandoah having paid their dues.
The Membership Prize Drawing was held at the meeting. The three Grand Prizes were cash awards of $75.00 for 1st place, drawn by Det. Jordan Webb, $50.00 for 2nd place, drawn by Ed Craig, and $40.00 for 3rd place, drawn by Tyrrell Bordelon. The winners, in order, were 15673 Confederate, 15906 Confederate, and 15512 Chickaumaga. Three secondary prizes of home fire extinguishers donated by Louisiana Fire Extinguisher, Inc. were also awarded. The winners of these three prizes were 17032 E. Rockbridge, 4916 Williamsburg, and 17647 Chadsford. Congratulations to all of the winners.
Architectural Report –Ken – Ken received a report of trash and boxes on the front lawn of a house on Chickamauga. He called it in to the city’s blight division. A resident on Fleetwood wants to put a storage building at the end of his driveway. No issues with that as long as he keeps it within the space requirements of city ordinance. Ken advised that he wouldn’t need to get a permit if he keeps it no larger than 200 square feet in size. Ken received a report of a house on Appommattox with a large structure at the
