Gary Graham
break.” Basically, that’s what we ended up doing. It wasn’t anything that made us enemies. We still got along and he was a talented guy.
What really infuriated Gary was people being complimentary to me or wanting to talk to me. I was still tight with his brother, who did help me, but I finally took Ed aside and said, “It’s in the best interest. You see the rivalry going on and if you want to stay with your brother, then you guys and I need to go our separate ways.” I told the other guys they could just keep the remaining royalties.
After the split with the Craig Brothers we were still friends. Once they came to spend a night in our band house and forgot to leave for three weeks. We all had a lot going on and since we weren’t working together, we got along fine. They were putting together a band called The Minutemen, which later became popular around the Hollywood scene. One of their members was Bob Feldman, later known for being Corey Feldman’s dad. That’s a story I understand Bob is in the process of writing about. The things going on around us at that time, which later would become “WOW” moments, were at the time just a part of our daily lives. We were working two of the most famous nightclubs in the world and the Craig Brothers (as The Minutemen) were working at Pandora’s Box, just a few blocks away. I understood they got that job because The Byrds or some other later-to-become-famous group had canceled. We didn’t realize at the time how important historically these things would become. Talking to Ed Craig, we remembered our first haircut in Hollywood was by Jay Sebring, who was later murdered by the Manson bunch along with Sharon Tate and Abigail Folger.
