Unfortunately for Dan, he never did learn how to pay attention. He kept telling himself, This is boring or I don’t need to know this or I will figure this out later or This is just too hard and on and on. We animals know that he was just giving himself permission to not pay attention with these Stinky Thinking excuses.
When you don’t pay attention, you "mishear" things. For example, when we were told, It is okay to talk to snakes from a distance, Dan misheard, It is okay to talk with snakes and he almost got bitten by a very nasty rattler.
If you don’t learn how to pay attention, it is easy for things to go wrong and you won’t understand why it happened.
