As the colony of squirrels began to assemble on the field, Fuzzy Tail was telling anyone who would listen, “He has the mark of the hawk. He is out to get us all. Look, there he is sitting in the dead oak tree watching us. He is up to no good I tell you.”
Just as the last of the squirrels reached the sacred diamond field, two winged shadows passed over the field.
“THE HAWKS!” shouted Fuzzy Tail. “Run for your lives!” And they did run, in all directions. Fuzzy Tail and Red Tail were also shouting, “Get Squiggy. He betrayed us!”
As all of this was going on, my two cousins who had just flown over the field, landed on the baseball fields scoreboard. One turned to the other and said, “This is not like they usually do at the last ceremony. Usually they have speeches and talk about the harvest they are expecting.
Then they go home leaving all the candy they have not eaten on the field.” “Yes,” said my other cousin, “It has been a tasty treat for us year after year. But now they are running in all directions without the speeches or anything.”
