Page 9 - FS-Chocolate Festival
P. 9
Don’t you find it interesting how Fuzzy Tail and Red Tail could come up with reasons for Squiggy not wanting candy? It seemed to me that their explanations were not based on anything real and in fact they were silly.
At first, I expected the other squirrels to tell them they were wrong or just making things up. But I was about to learn an important lesson: It is easy to believe the Stinky Thinking of others.
You know, Fuzzy Tail continued, how we wait until dusk, when all of the humans have left and then go onto the sacred diamond field for the big celebration? We are out in the open and if the hawks know when we are going to have this celebration and are hiding in the trees, well, it is just too awful to think about.
Oh my poor babies sighed one of the group. “Squiggy is a terrible traitor” said another.
For the first few days of the festival everything went fine except, that everyone avoided Squiggy. Some would make rude remarks to him and no one would sit on the same branch with him. When asked why he would not eat the chocolate like the others, he simply said, “I don’t like it.”
