Presentation by Mr. Jim Steele Assistant District Attorney on the EBRP Crime Strategy. Mr. Steele discussed the Crime Strategy Unit and their function in looking at data of open cases and closed cases with evidence to link data and solve more cases. These units are becoming more popular throughout the country. He said daily there are car burglaries where at least one (sometimes more) guns are stolen out of vehicles and get into the crime market. They can be stolen in any neighborhood and moved throughout the city in other areas and used in crimes. Lock Your Car and don’t leave anything of value in site. They match cases and evidence, for instance, ballistics, fingerprints, and any other evidence is compared to see if they are linked with other evidence. Your gun, if stolen, can be used in multiple crimes. Everyone is reminded again to lock their cars, even in their driveway, and DO NOT leave anything of value in the car or where it can be seen.
Meeting dates for remainder of 2018; September 18th and November 20th.
The next meeting will be September 18th at 6:30 P.M. at the Jones Creek Regional Library.
