to make sure the towers are not in line of sight, in intersections, blocking driveways, etc. Mr. Gissel also recognized that residents are frustrated because of the lack of communication. He said the list of addresses where permits have been requested will be sent to Nancy Curry, President of the Federation of Greater Baton Rouge Civic Associations for dissemination to the neighborhood associations. A resident in attendance was frustrated with the placement of one of the towers in her yard. Mr. Gissel will work with her to try to resolve the issue. He indicated that the city is also working on finding ways to resolve the issue.
Secretary’s Report – Motion made and passed to accept the minutes of the last monthly business meeting as published in the Newswatch.
Treasurer’s Report - Mike sent in the Treasurer’s report which showed receipts in April $3,319.47. Expenses in April totaled $3,259.65, which included the cost of the flags. YTD receipts total $22,300.79. The Shenandoah Homeowners Association dues remain at $30 per year. Please send in your dues, or you can pay them via PayPal on the website. (shawebwatch.com).
Security Report –Tom - Tom reported that the cameras being installed on Malvern Hill at Altus and on Fleetwood at Achord should be up and running by the end of this month. Tom also reported that the two cameras at the school will be replaced with newer models. We may be able to use the older cameras at other sites. We are working on putting a camera at the Antioch/Co
Architectural Report –Ken – Ken reported that a resident requested approval for putting a 3-foot white picket fence in his front yard for landscape/decoration purpose only. He was informed that the fence would be installed about halfway between the house and the sidewalk and it should not be an issue. Also, since the fence will be 3 feet tall, it will not require a permit. Ken reported that he had called in a house with an extremely overgrown yard on Five Forks, and that it had been already been reported to the city in April. It has now been cut. Ken reported a house which had a new fence on Culps Bluff. They did not have a permit for it.
Beautification Report –Kevin - The “YARD OF THE MONTH” in Shenandoah Estates for June is 15825 Haynes Bluff. They will receive a $25 gift certificate from Cleggs Nursery. Congratulations! Residents are reminded that they can nominate yards for “Yard of the Month” on the website.
Entrance Sign Committee Report –Don –Don met with one of the contractors to request that he give us a ballpark estimate of what the new sign will cost. The contractor will factor in the cost of demolition as well as construction in his bid.
Newswatch/Website Report – Ed Craig – Ed reported that the website had 2472 individual visits in April. Ed will print articles regarding homeowners’ responsibilities for fixing their sidewalks and trimming trees that overhang the sidewalks. Ed welcomes any recommendations for articles and Newswatch content. The deadline for articles for the June Newswatch is May 22. If you are not getting your copy of the newsletter, please let Ed know.
Unfinished Business –
American Flags – The flags are in the process of being placed in front of every home in Shenandoah. They should be done by May 18, which is Armed Forces Day.
