TRANSOM KNOT




               Purpose

               To seize two cross-pieces of wood, when assembling the framework for a kite or
               a garden trellis, use this binding knot. It resembles a constrictor knot (which is

               why it is included in this section) but is in fact a modified double overhand or

               strangle knot.



               Tying

               Wrap, interweave and tuck with a working end as shown (figures 1–2).




               Knot lore
               This neat knot was discovered and published by Clifford Ashley in his Book of

               Knots (1944).
