TRANSOM KNOT
Purpose
To seize two cross-pieces of wood, when assembling the framework for a kite or
a garden trellis, use this binding knot. It resembles a constrictor knot (which is
why it is included in this section) but is in fact a modified double overhand or
strangle knot.
Tying
Wrap, interweave and tuck with a working end as shown (figures 1–2).
Knot lore
This neat knot was discovered and published by Clifford Ashley in his Book of
Knots (1944).
