               Several  contemporary  knot  tyers—all  members  of  the  International  Guild  of

               Knot Tyers—have separately come forward in support of it. They include Pieter
               van  de  Griend  (Faroe  Islands),  Charles  Warner  (Australia)  and  Robert  Pont

               (France) who in Knotting Matters (April 1996) told of its use in Lapland in knife
               lanyards as well as for hitching reindeers to sleds.
