Balancing Love and Firmness
Be calm and relaxed: Disciplining a person in anger does not solve a problem; rather,
it intensifies the issue. It is better to give room for cooling off so the case can be
objectively discussed. This also makes it easy for the one who made a mistake to
understand that the person's love has not changed and that the person only wants
the best for them.
Do not put the person down: While attempting firmness with those we love, it is vital
to choose our words carefully and be sure not to make them feel inferior. Reassuring
the person of our love is essential.
Avoid Nagging: When an issue has been discussed, and the one who is wrong shows
signs of realizing the mistakes made and a willingness to change, it is important to
avoid over flogging a matter by consistently speaking about it since this can yield
negative results.
To find a balance in our everyday actions is hard; it becomes harder when it has to do
with those we are fond of and cherish. What is pertinent to have as our mindset is
the need to calmly communicate our objections, be sure to let our loved ones know
that finding a balance between love and firmness is for the best, for them and for us.
