May 2022 Executive Director’s Report
Well as most of the country is enjoying the Spring weather, here in
Phoenix, Arizona have again opted to jump right into summer. It has only
hit 97* so far and I am sure the climate folks are saving the 115* days until
the end of June through September. Remember-plenty of fluids!!
The National PVA Sports Director Jennifer Purser and some of her staff
stopped in to assist the Chapter with working on the National Veterans
Wheelchair Games happening here in Tempe this July. It is amazing that
they accomplish so much with such a small staff. We really appreciate their
professional talents/efforts! Thank you! Even if you’re not competing, go on
down and cheer for our athletes.
Hopefully as the Virus and its offshoots go away, we will be holding new
events with everyone being able to be together and enjoy the get togethers.
We could let our Chief Chef and Service Officer make up for all the picnics
he has been able to avoid over the last 2+ years. Thank you, Michael.
The VA has come out with a new long-term plan to streamline the SCI/D
th
Centers and some hubs. There was a zoom meeting the 27 of April that
asked everyone to be alert to meetings or announcements regarding
changes at our spoke clinics. Apparently, there are plans to close,
downsize or replace entire hospitals. Please feel free to contact the NSO
Office.
Membership in the PVA is falling. So if you see another disabled person,
please ask if the know about PVA and let’s get them into our organization.
Be Safe
