Executive Director’s Report
Happy Holidays to all of you and hopefully a better New Year than 2020.
Unfortunately our Pandemic will be with us still and the question that lingers
is “can they really make a safe vaccine in such a short time?” Yes 2021
promises to be another outstanding year for the history books.
I am curious, do any of you get bills from medical facilities that the VA has
sent you to? I would love to know what you do with them. Please feel free
st
to send a summary of your issue to my Chapter email after the 1 of
January. PQuinn@azpva.org.
The reason I won’t be able to get to them sooner is we are moving
buildings. We sold ours and are closing the Spina Bifida Campus at 1001 E
Fairmount Ave. Phoenix, AZ 85014. We hope this facility built in 1992 will
help us expand and develop new opportunities for our members and fellow
Veterans.
When I see a commercial for another Veteran’s Service Organization and
see all the needs that are being met I wonder why we don’t get credit for
the Veteran’s benefits. Have you ever read the multiple versions of history
recorded about the PVA? We started handicap parking in NYC (in the 40’s)
Accessible housing in New York and Virginia started by us. If you ever get
some time and want to learn about who developed, pushed and eventually
got the laws passed read our history. There are copies on azpva.org, under
about/history. Be amazed at all the credit going to other because we no
longer take pride or let people know what the 20-24 year old Veterans of
WWII got off their couches and did for Veterans that still get the benefits of
today.
Special thanks and holiday wishes to all our National Service Officers and
their staff; who still put boots to the ground every day and remember who
they serve. We should be making 2021 a better year for them.
Be safe and enjoy what you can
Peter Quinn, Executive Director
