Recognitions and Honors:

Medical Center Director receives Red Coat from Tuskegee Airmen
Dr. Smith, Medical Center Director, was presented with a Red Coat from the Archer-Ragsdale Arizona Chapter
of the Tuskegee Airmen, April 28.

MCD receives Recognition for leadership and service from Unified Arizona Veterans, Vietnam Veterans of
America, Military Order of the Purple Heart and Veterans of Foreign Wars May 6, 2022 and Veteran and
Family Advisory Council on May 2, 2022.

DAISY Awards
Phoenix recognizes DAISY Award Recipients from 2021. Since many of the public celebrations were limited
due to COVID-19, the Phoenix VA Health Care System recently publicly recognized the DAISY winners from
2021. DAISY is an international award established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes. The award is designed to
“give patients, families and co-workers an easy way to express their gratitude for nurses who provide
extraordinary compassionate care”. See attachment
