National Directors Report

I completed my annual physical in San Diego, returned home and had to go
into the hospital in Tucson! I thought that I’d had a stroke, but that was not

pressure related, possibly even AD type of situation. I was able to make
the Fall Board of Directors meeting in Orlando, Fl. on October 17-21.

Still waiting for any news or updates on HISA grant increases.

I was an observer for the Seattle virtual on-site Survey team on October 5th
& 6 with the Field Advisory Committee. It was a new learning experience

for me. I’ll be on the team again on November 3 & 4 for the Albuquerque

virtual on-site. The remaining virtual on-site visits for the remainder of this
year are Memphis 11/3-4, Palo Alto 11/17-18, San Juan 12/1-2, Augusta

12/8-9, and Tampa 12/15-16. The team assignments are not assigned yet.

The Architecture team continues to monitor construction and changes to
the different SCI centers across the nation. The SCI centers that directly
have impact for our chapter are the San Diego center, the Long Beach
center, and the Albuquerque center. Here are the notes for each of those
centers.

*San Diego, CA (Hub)

New SCI/D Acute and Long-Term Care Center (Major): PVA Architecture
continues to attend weekly construction meetings with VAMC Engineering,
VA CFM, Army Corps of Engineers, the construction team, and the design
team. PVA Architecture also attends weekly Parking and Activation
meetings with VAMC leadership and VAMC Engineering. Construction is

currently focused on relocating underground utilities and the structural
foundations for Parking Garage 3. The dedicated SCI/D parking was
relocated to Parking Garage 2 on August 16, 2021, in accordance with the
2018 PVA/VAMC agreement. Construction of Parking Garage 3 is
