A foundry is a workshop where metal is heated and molded into a casting. As young adults in our church and community face the heat of a transient time in their lives, Foundry provides a space for them to workshop their faith and be molded by the love of Christ. Over the past year our college-aged young adults have gathered for cofee and conversations about faith, current events, and young living, all the while encouraging and challenging one another in holy love. Our young professionals have been more intentional about the ministry of presence in our downtown community. During our Midweek conversations, we’ve grappled with the story and life of Jesus and pondered what it means to live like Christ in the midst of new jobs and new relationships, often through the wisdom of church members we’ve invited to share with us. Our monthly Deep Dives have allowed us to engage the Christian narrative through the spiritual practices of scripture, prayer, meditation, and hospitality. We’ve also continued to enact our faith as something not only of the head or heart, but of the hands as we’ve served alongside backpack buddies, Dorcas, and the Food Bank of CENC. Through all that our young adults have participated in this past year, the service, the meals, the conversations, and the worship, we’ve followed the Holy Spirit in helping foster Foundry to be a place in our church and community where all young adults belong.
