LOCAL OUTREACHIn 2018 we “shared the heart of Christ from the heart of Cary” with an emphasis on our local community. First Cary is a family continued to embrace service as integral to the heart of Christ. 10 Annual Report 2017We provided the hungry with food through ministries such as Backpack Buddies, Dorcas Food Pantry, Rise Against Hunger, NC Food Bank, Meals On Wheels, and Bridge the Gap. For the frst time we provided hot meals for free to neighborhood children throughout the summer in partnership with the Wake County Summer Food program. We helped provide adequate, afordable housing for others through Habitat for Humanity, The Carying Place, Family Promise, Appalachia Service Project, Disaster Relief Trips and Dorcas Ministries. We also support the Methodist Home for Children in their endeavors to care for and fnd homes for children.Alliance Medical Ministry, the UNC mobile medical clinic, and InterAct all provide comprehensive, holistic care for both physical and emotional health needs to our community. I loved that we were such a place of safety and warmth on beautiful evenings during the Summer Food and Reading Program. The families spent time together on our grounds until after sunset, hours after the food was put away. My children participated in the program – Abigail (12) and Laura (9) helped with the reading, while Jeb (6) participated in the program and played with the kids on the playground. It was a joy to serve and be in relationship with children of diferent ages and backgrounds.” — Mandy Baucom“
