Orphaned at an early age, Marguerite Farrer inherited her parents' large estate, includni g the land on which sits Maison Chenal (the home of the collectors). She became a ward of Julian Poydras and Poydras purchased the land from Marguerite Marguerite also owned Ormond Plantation as well as the town house in the French Quarter. A later ownerhsip dipsute over the Pointe Coupee land was adjudicated in Courtney v. Young (1858).

Unsigned and with restoration to the face, this portrait would face challenges in today's condition- drive market; however, being a portrait of a child, and one with an interesting story would help it
