ACADEMIC SUPPORT
Elmira College Supplemental Instruction (SI) consists of peer-led study sessions as an academic support program. SI
helps to enhance students' understanding of course content and materials. These peer-led study sessions support
students with developing active learning strategies for preparing and reviewing for exams. Attending SI sessions is
completely voluntary and is an opportunity to connect with students in your major! SI is designated for more
challenging courses and not available for every course. To learn more about SI for your course, ask your instructor or
contact the Office of Student Success at studentsuccess@elmira.edu.
THE ELMIRA COLLEGE WRITING CENTER
The Elmira College Writing Center and George L. Howell Tutoring Center, both located on the first floor of the
Gannett-Tripp Library, offer free services to all enrolled undergraduate students. One-on-
One (1:1) sessions are led by trained peer tutors with availability throughout the week during regular academic
terms, including nights and weekends. Elmira College students can find available tutors through the Navigate app
or through this link: https://elmira.navigate.eab.com/. Use the “Schedule an Appointment” button to find and
schedule tutoring. Exam review sessions may be coordinated for specific courses depending on availability and
demand. If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Student
Success at studentsuccess@elmira.edu.
