«EC CREATES CENTER FOR ACADEMIC & PROFESSIONAL EXCELLENT [CAPE]«
July 2025
The Center for Academic and Professional Excellence (CAPE) is a centralized student support hub with a goal of
improving students’ academic success, career readiness and persistence to graduation. Using a growth mindset
model, our staff empower and support all students in developing the skills and confidence they need to achieve their
academic and professional goals in college and throughout their lives.
We offer several student support services:
1. Academic Accommodations and Accessibility Resources
Students with documented disabilities have access to a range of support services. Our staff collaborates with students to
create individualized accommodations memos, which are shared with faculty to support students’ academic success. For
more information, please email accommodations@elmira.edu
2. Office of Student Success
Weekly Academic Success Coaching is offered to all students. Student Success staff work with students to develop academic
and personal strategies to ease the transition to college. Staff also offer specialized support to students who are learning
English as an additional language. For more information, please email: studentsuccess@elmira.edu
3. Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction Services
The Tutoring and Writing Centers offer personalized academic support, including one-on-one sessions, group tutoring, and
help with various subjects. Sessions focus on improving students’ understanding, study skills, writing skills and
performance.
The Elmira College Writing Center offers individualized feedback and writing coaching to all students on any written
assignment, including presentations, for any course. Use Navigate (on your app or on the web at elmira.navigate.eab.com).
Walk-ins are also welcome any time the Writing Center is staffed. Email the Writing Center with questions at
writingcenter@elmira.edu.

other professional development opportunities.
