Berlin in July by Joseph Petersdorf
The sun beats down over his head
As the graffiti on the streets fades to black
The gas lights and the city come to life, but he stands in the street Staring at the mural that reminds him of home
Alone
The clubs and the red lights attract crowds
Dreams of being like them, immortalized
Yet there is nothing there for him
Cross the street and destroy the Earth
The button sits tantalizing, the option to
Start over for once, and try again
The traces oftheir time together still exist but for all he knows
It’s completely gone, and any trace was removed by hitting a button Slamming the hand into the door,
Berlin is washed away in darkness
And he stands in the pit he did months before
Overthinking striking again,
driving him into an eternal circle
        Painting by Marie Sirenko
