Dear Priory Community,
It has been our privilege to serve as co-presidents of the Priory Parent Association for the last two years! During that time, we have marveled at the power of the Priory community and at the ripple effects a Priory education can create.
Recently, at a dinner gathering in London, we were randomly seated next to a gentleman from the Philippines with kind eyes and a gentle manner. We soon found out he attended the Priory in the days when it was still an all-boys school. He carries memories of the Priory with him, and he most definitely remembers Father Martin (who could not?!). It’s clear that for students here, the Priory never leaves them.
As we write this today, the new track and field is racing to its finish, and the STREAM building is rising from the earthy dust of the previous structures that stood upon its ground for so many years. Sometimes
as a current parent, it’s hard to connect the benefits of being involved with the school at a personal level to the impact you are having on
its future. But for each of us, every gift we make to the Priory of time, talent and treasure is a building block. For those of us currently in the midst of raising a Priory student, we are so fortunate to see our efforts – and the commitment of families before us – coming to fruition, one building block at a time, on our dynamic campus.
It’s worth mentioning too that so much is being transformed at the Priory that isn’t bricks and mortar. Your new PPA leaders, Kathy Fitzgerald and Kari Rust, are playing a vital role in the progression of Priory’s parent community, working closely with the administration to present enhanced abilities to communicate, track participation and make it easier than ever to be a part of Priory as a cherished parent volunteer. (If you haven’t signed on to our new PPA website yet this year, please do!) We congratulate them on all the many ways they are creating community through leveraging our new technology and new relationships with teachers and staff. We are in awe!
Our family started here in middle school and now all three children are high-schoolers. Chaos? Sometimes. And also calm. We know they are all going to make their way into this world – the one in need of their gifts. Maybe they’ll end up in the far corners of the globe like the alumnus we met, or maybe they’ll find their calling closer to home. But we know wherever they venture, they will take the Priory experience with them. So as one of our own heads out into the world this coming year, our youngest is just beginning her Upper School experience. And you can bet, none of them will ever forget Father Martin either!
Sincerely,
Scott and Pamela Weiss
