What a night for Priory! The most successful annual auction ever was also a nod to local history. Beginning in 1963, The Emerald Ball at the Sharon Heights Country Club was THE major social and fundraising occasion of the year and it continued until the 1980’s. Gala Chair Carolyn Putney chose to honor Priory’s legacy by reinstituting The Emerald Ball as the theme for Priory’s 35th annual Gala!
A dedicated team of committed parent volunteers worked tirelessly with Carolyn to make her vision a reality. Sandra Fairon and her team filled the ballroom with bowls full of roses, shimmering satin linens, and walls awash in green lights. Each and every guest was gifted with an emerald ring at his or her place setting!
An exceptional array of wines, expertly curated once again by Judi Jaeger, kept guests hovering over their bids. Amazing items dazzled the Silent Auction tables, including creations by Reed Easley-Sullivan and her metalsmithing students, Shawn Matson and his glass students, and skateboard designed and built by Rick Riebhoff and his students. The Live Auction was a rousing competition for phenomenal experiences like dinner with renowned racecar driver Mario Andretti, VIP tickets to see the Jimmy Fallon Show in New York City, and an Irish vacation of a lifetime with stays in a 600-year-old castle and a 300-year-old Dublin mansion!
Best of all, the evening ended with
a record $743,262 raised in support of Priory. Thanks to countless enthusiastic parent volunteers, Priory faculty and staff, our beloved monks, and all who donated and bid
so generously, the Emerald Ball was the brightest of nights for Priory!
