Dear Friends of the Priory,
On behalf of the Priory Board of Trustees, it is my honor and privilege to report on the 2015-2016 school year at Priory. In addition to another successful financial and academic year, the Priory campus is once again in the process of being transformed as construction begins on the eagerly anticipated STREAM building (Science Technology Robotics Engineering Arts and Math) and a new Track and Field.
This year we focused on making sure every financial and design detail was in place to simultaneously execute these two large construction projects. A huge thank you to the Building Ingenuity Campaign Committee, the Finance Committee, and the Buildings and Grounds Committee for working together to make these dreams become a reality. Fundraising continues to finish out the $25 million capital campaign which will ultimately transform the Priory campus over 5 years with complete classroom renovations, the Benedictine classroom building, the STREAM building and the Track and Field. Please help us complete this vision.
Work continues on the master plan build-out, next concentrating on the unique opportunity we have to add more on-campus housing to ease the strain of affordable housing in Silicon Valley for Priory’s own faculty and staff. A special committee has been working to understand the complex architectural and financial challenges of such an important undertaking.
Thoughtful consideration was given over the course of the year to the concept of “balance” and how it fits into Priory’s Benedictine culture. This work culminated in adding the idea to our Mission Statement
as well as receiving a prestigious E.E. Ford Grant for further work in this area of interest in support of our students. We continue to cherish and enhance relationships with our own monks and the monastic community at St. Anselm, working with them on succession planning and governance as we face a future with fewer monks.
Leading into our 60th year, Priory has a bright future and much to be thankful for. Our school is in good hands with talented faculty, staff, monks, trustees and parents who all give generously of their time, talent and treasure as we “assist all students in creating meaningful and balanced lives, developing as lifelong learners and stewards, and productively serving a world in need of their gifts.”
Always We Begin Again,
