1. Carrying their hiking bags, Luka Kolomejec (7), Zoe Daniel (7), Colby Cheung (7) and Grace Peek (7) ended their war of climbing and went down the slope with feelings of pride and achievement. 2. Having perfectly reached the second stair, Zoe Daniel (7) stretches her limbs to hold the rock. 3. Even though Gaby Sanchez (6), Samson Axe (6) and Grant Whitman (6) are busy around the stream, they never forget to show big smiles to the camera. 4. Laughing, running, and carrying Livie Carusi (7) on her back, Grace Peek (7) enjoys the sunshine! 5. At risk of losing control, Markus Brugger (6) cascades crazily down a hill during his orientation outdoor ed trip.
Adventuring through the outdoors brings middle schoolers closer together.
in the new world
Outdoor education, the precursor to
retreats in the middle school, is a vital part of bonding and learning for the sixth and seventh grade classes. The experience helps put young students outside of their comfort zones, make new friends, and experience the world outside of school and developed life.
This year the sixth graders went to a zip line course at Robs Cross. Here the focus was bonding and breaking through natural fears and anxieties. Each student participated in zip lining between trees and learning more about their new peers and classmates. They slept in tents and communed around a campfire. The whole
experience left the students with a long lasting impression and helped bring fun to the school year.
The seventh graders visited Pinnacle National Park. There they learned more about the outdoors and cemented friendships. They walked through natural caves the first day, exploring natures more hidden wonders. After the caves they went rock-climbing against the cliffs of the Pinnacles. The experience was tough but exciting.
Through 'Outdoor Ed,' each student learned more about the outside world and about each other.

I guess I would say the middle school bathroom. - Sergio Lopez (10)
The best part of the new campus are the new desks and chairs because they allow me to move to different parts of the classroom without the teacher noticing. -Chris Perez (11)
The middle school bathrooms are so luxurious, when I walk in there, it's like I'm at the Ritz. -Jaulie Goe (10)
I love the middle school bathrooms because they have the most beautiful mirrors ever. -Avery Simon (10)
