Students view cross- country not only as a sport, but a community support system.
Each year, the Priory middle school sees an influx of new students who must decide their fall sports almost immediately upon arrival. Over the next three years, the middle school coaches train and groom their athletes for high school competitions. Nowhere is this more evident than on the cross-country team,
Many people think that cross-country is an individual sport, but what is not usually portrayed is the whole team cheering each other on. Cross- country is a sport that is community oriented, and it builds a sense of a second family in school.

hardworking and dedicated athletes showed up to practice every day after school ready to run with smiles on their faces.
Priory has a strong team, consisting of students who are eager to run and ready to encourage their teammates. They motivate each other to run harder, longer, and faster. Sixth grader and newcomer Dominique Robson said, “I loved how the coaches were encouraging the runners no matter what place they were in. Being a member on the cross country team was an amazing experience because I got to know other people on the team older than me.”
Moving into high school, the cross-country team will be accepted into the larger community of high school sports. However, their strong support from middle school cross-country will always be there to help them cross the finish line.
