Middle school fall sports were stellar this
year. The boys' flag football team had a tremendous season. Whether it was catching a ball, scoring a touchdown, or diving to grab a flag from the opposing team, these Panthers were hard working players. The flag football program is composed of three teams. This year the sixth grade team focused most of their time on improving their techniques such as throwing the perfect spiral and footwork. The seventh grade flag football team made constant improvements on their plays, while the eighth graders were awesome role models and embodied leadership.
Tatiana Reese, the only female player on the flag football team, had some great insight about her experience this season. She explained, “ During my flag football season, I experienced a lot of competition. Playing as a girl against boys who are good and tough was a challenge. During the season
I loved playing defense with Joseph and Issac, we were always ready and played our hardest!” The Panthers were fortunate to have Tati on their side, and she paved the way for future aspiring female flag football players, bringing an all-new perspective to a team that has been at Priory for years.
The girls' softball team had a strong season. Under the leadership of Sports Director Mr. Stogner, the team was unstoppable. The girls swung their way to victory and exhibited not only offensive skill but great defensive talents, catching pop-flies and fielding ground balls.
Softball player Amanda Smith (6) was happy to talk about being a member of the team.”This softball season was amazing. My coach, Mr. Stogner, was great. If I was unsure about how to position myself while batting, or how to catch a pop fly, he was right there to help. The team bonded so much we were best friends by the end of the season.”
