The cross country team likes to wear American shorts as seen at left. This year, however, Mr Lai said they couldn't wear American shorts and lose, so the team agreed that if they could place top two in the league, they could wear the shorts for the CCS championship. They did, and they also won CCS championship.

Priory runners have your punishment proven themselves
time and time again.
“Cross country is the best,” said Joshua Gutow (10). This
opinion is shared by many athletes at Priory. Many Priory students love the refreshing feeling of pushing one's body to the extreme. Sarah Halabe (10) said, “I chose cross country because I am a masochist and love to run.” Despite the agony of running, many Priory students are still obsessed with this sport. Maria Naclerio (10) said, “I chose cross country because I am also a masochist and I have an addiction to running even though it is horribly painful.”
Furthermore, Priory runners have improved, both personally and as a team, during cross country training and races. Great achievements include getting into horrible accidents. For example, Jack Herrera (10) said, “Personal achievement: tripping over a fence and getting a concussion.” Priory runners not only accomplished horrifying accidents, they are also proud of suffering less. Maria Naclerio (10) said she “managed to only throw up once in a race.” Some achievements have helped Priory runners race faster and more confidently. Hana Marsheck (10) said, “I learned to control my pre-
race nerves and make sure to run the race and have nothing left afterwards.” In addition, friendships have become closer. Robert Screven (10) said, “I have dropped a few minutes off my race times from last year, but mainly I am proud of getting a scoring spot on Varsity and strengthening previous friendships with my teammates.” New members to the community are welcome on the cross country team. Elise Rust (9) said, “I am the only freshman on the girl's varsity team, so this year has allowed me to become close with upper class and sophomores. Other than that, I dropped almost a minute on my average pace.”
Team accomplishments were amazing this year. This year was the first time both the boys' and girls' teams won the CCS championship at the same time. The team is also very proud to have beaten Crystal Springs several times this year. For example, during the CCS championship, Priory was able to beat Crystal Springs, who was seeded number one. Overall, the team has improved and grown in many different ways.
