The boys' basketball team had a magnificent season and found their zone for some amazing games.
...there it is
Everyone knows that senior night is arguably one of the
most important points in a young adult's life. It is when friends, family, teammates, and coaches come together to celebrate what the seniors have accomplished during their time at the Priory, and amidst posters and cheers, sometimes there's even a pretty good game to watch, too.
In this respect, the boys' varsity basketball team did not fail to deliver. The team was led by seniors Conor Bonfiglio and Will Latta, who was simultaneously battling a case of the flu. Despite this setback, however, the boys played extremely well. Though the opponent, King's Academy, consistently tried to block and beat the Panthers, the boys were unstoppable. Just before halftime, Conor Bonfiglio (12) made a three-quarter court buzzer beater that made the crowd go so crazy that it was impossible to hear the buzzer itself.
“I was super emotional but super focused,” said Bonfiglio. “We came out strong - it was 15-0 in the first few minutes. I also hit a full court shot which was ridiculous. We led by nine at half time and never looked back.” Though this game in particular was special for Bonfiglio, he also has an affinity for the sport in general, saying, “The game of basketball taught me values of discipline, togetherness, toughness, and cooperation. I will definitely miss playing at Priory, but luckily I'll be playing in college.”
Ultimately, the boys pulled off a 61-51 victory over King's on senior night. Coach Moseley was extremely proud of the entire team, but especially excited for the skill and talent demonstrated by the seniors. At the end of the game, when asked what his favorite moment of the season was, Coach Moseley responded emphatically that it was the momentous game he had just finished coaching.
