Priory offers a wide variety of exciting coursessuchasGothicLiterature,FairyTales, Transcendentalists and Beats, Myths and Urban Legends and many more. In Fairy Tales, studentswritetheirowntales.InFoundationsI, students analyze a Japanese film based on Macbeth.
Also, in Literature of Witness, students had the opportunitytointerviewawarrefugee.Theseactivities diversifyPriory'sEnglishprogram.Theseelectivesexist because,“Studentinterestdrivesthecurriculum.We balance education with student interest”. The English department’smaingoalsaretodevelopskillsin “criticalthinkingandformalwriting,embedding projects for creativity and collaboration, promote clear communication, to find pleasure in the text, develop theloveoflearning,andsocialjusticeandcompassion for the world around us”. Katia Queener (9) says, “I love English because I love literature. It gives you accesstodifferentworlds”.Overall,Priory'sEnglish program is a deep exploration of literature and one’s own self filled with diverse electives.
