The Social Network By Julia Teymourian and Monica Mallon
2014 was a big year for technology with the release of the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and OSX Mavericks and the growing popularity of SnapChat. Many priory students upgraded their iPhones including Anisha Reddy (11) who said, “I like the bigger screen. It makes it easier to watch Netflix.” Facebook and Twitter have adapted to the iOS 8’s more streamlined simplistic aesthetic. It seems like simple, elegant app design is making a comeback in updates across the spectrum of apps. An app which has been gaining immense popularity among students is SnapChat, an
app that allows people to send pictures to their friends. Jocelyn Zambrano (11) said, “I like sharing photos with my friends. It’s more real than texting.”More priory teachers have been allowing students to use laptops more in class especially for presentations and multimedia projects. Paulette Ma (11) believes that this change is good, “as long as they [the teachers] know how to turn it on.” Many new gadgets and apps will be released in 2015 including the AppleWatch and iOS 9.
