ThemiddleschoolJVandvarsityfootballteamsbothhad great seasons this year. They each started out the the year with two impressive victories, varsity football winning 13-12andJV,changingthetidesofthehistoryoflosing records, winning 42-0. Elijah Roybal, a member from varsity team said, the reason why they worked so hard for thegameisbecause,“WelovetackingkidsthatIdon't like.”MarkHughesadds,wealsolove“runningwithda baalll.”Overthecourseoftheseason,theteamsdidnot falter in their determination and passionate play. JV football had three consecutive shutouts, unwilling to share the scoreboard with the foe. With their thunderous touchdowns, impressive offensive outputs, and stellar defense, “the team accomplished it's goals for the
season;havingawinningrecord4-2,gettingbetterboth individually and as a team, and setting their middle school athletic careers off on a great foot.” The season awards wenttoColeGilbert(MostImprovedPlayer),Nicholas Tidmarsh (Most Valuable Player), and Ethan Veghte (Coaches Award). Varsity football marked the end of a greatseasonwitha13-0win.Throughouttheseason, everyonecontributedtothe3-2-1record.Highlightsfrom theseasonincludeElliotDauberhaving53yardkick return for a touchdown in the last play of the game, Samson Axe leading the team in rushing, including a 24 yard touchdown run, Jason Sadler sealing a win with a late game interception, and Kenneth Akers having two big tackles on the last two drives of the game.
