The competition for the new “Teatro Verdi” of Terni has been a great opportunity for me to ap-
proach a very interesting theme like the exhibition places (and above all the Opera Theatre) are.
The project is based on the idea that the theater, in its socio-cultural function, becomes a device
of urban regeneration for a series of public spaces that are underused in the historic center of Terni.
A new foyer becomes an extension of the public space: the theater becomes an “actor” of urban life.
The design proposal aims to preserve the historical stratifications that have characterized the
transformations of the building-theater.
The volume that covers the scenic tower, covered in GRC ashlars, is a tribute to the “sponga” stone typical
of Terni.
