Antihypertensive drug initiation is based on both
hypertension grade and cardiovascular risk level
From 130/85 mmHg, consider drug treatment based on
patient's risk level.
In patients <65 years SBP should be lowered to 120–129/80 mmHg in most patients, except chronic kidney disease with 130-139
mmHg target. In older patients (≥65 years and above 80 yrs.), SBP should be targeted to a BP range of 130–139/80 mmHg.
