(Sovereignty -‘Australian Aboriginal Sovereignty is a political movement amongst some Aboriginal Australians in the 20 & 21 centuries, demanding control over parts of Australia by Indigenous peoples. Aboriginal sovereignty is not recognized by the Australian legal system’ Wikipedia).
(Indigenous Sovereignty – ‘in Australia includes concepts such as self government, autonomy & the recognition of cultural distinctiveness, though not a creation of a new country’ – The Lack of a Treaty, Australians Together).
(Self- determination – ‘the process by which a country determines its own statehood & forms its own government’.’ The process by which a person controls their own life.’ Definitions form Oxford Languages).
Self Determination – International law defines self-determination as the right of all peoples to freely determine their political status & freely pursue their economic, social & cultural development. The intended outworking of self- determination policy approaches was Indigenous participation in policy & decision-making, & in individual & community leadership. Finally Indigenous people could regain control over their own lives.- Australian Together –‘The Indigenous civil rights movement in Australia’.
