His lab is actively involved in wastewater surveillance, a potential technology that could provide
insights into the spatiotemporal dynamics of many variations. However, there are significant obstacles
to fully leveraging the potential of wastewater surveillance. The most significant obstacles are high
contamination and variable mixture. These difficulties could only be overcome by creating new ways
for analysing sequence data. His research group is currently working on a computational pipeline to
forecast evolving variations. 50
