“The team of veterinarians from the Riau Province Natural Resources Conservation
Agency (BBKSDA) revealed that a Sumatran elephant, which died in the PT Arara
Abadi industrial plantation forest concession in Riau Province, was a victim of ivory
poaching. Riau BBKSDA veterinarian Rini Deswita, at the elephant carcass site,
Tuesday, stated that the results of autopsy or necropsy concluded that elephants
were brutally killed by poachers to extract their ivory.”
