WORLD AVIATION HISTORY
MYTHOLOGY
The history of aviation dates back to the day of the prehistoric man when stopped to watch
the flight of birds and other flying animals.
The desire to fly has been present in humanity for centuries. But even so, the desire
existed, various civilizations told stories of people endowed with divine powers who could
fly.
The best-known example is the legend of Icarus and his father Dedalo. Icaro was
imprisoned in Crete along with his father. Dedalo builder of wings, managed not only to
escape from the labyrinth where he was imprisoned with his son, also from the cruel king
Minos who was persecuting him.
Icaro tried to escape with wings glued to his body with wax; but, disregarding his father's
instructions, he got too close to the sun, which caused the wax to melt, that cause it took
off and he fell into the sea, dying.
