A TYPICAL DAY &

GENERAL INFORMATION

The timetable opposite sets out a typical day for an Abbey DAILY
student.
ROUTINE
On Saturdays bedtimes may be extended at the discretion
of the member of staff on duty. On Sundays there is an 07:00 Wake-up
opportunity for a lie-in and brunch is served at 11.30am.
There is also a chance to visit Street for some shopping, a
meal or catch up with friends. 07:35

EARLY DAYS AT ABBEY HOUSE
There will be a sustained induction programme which will
aim to gradually introduce school systems and house rules, 07:45 Roll call for Sixth form
and to ensure everyone has a chance to integrate into the
busy life at Millfield. There will be daily house meetings
to provide the opportunity to get to know the staff, the 08:00 Breakfast at school
Head of House, and the other students in house and to talk
through any issues and concerns. Nonetheless, even the
most confident and outgoing student will have bad days, feel
homesick, struggle with their prep or miss their old friends. 08:30 Registration with Group Tutor
Everyone gets homesick at some point; it takes some longer -08:55 The school day begins
to adjust than others. If your daughter does go through
a low patch, particularly in the first few weeks, please do 15:45 Lessons finish
not hesitate to call us to discuss the issues. However, from
experience we have found that the more you are on the
phone to during this time, the less time they have to socialise
and build friendships with their new peer group. Think about 16:00 Sport/Free time
arranging regular phone calls at agreed times and try to
resist the temptation to take her home each weekend or
call her every day. We advise that no exeats should be taken 17:30 Supper
during the first two weekends of the academic year. We
know this is hard, but all the house staff will be on hand to
support and for the vast majority of the students this period
of uneasiness will last no more than a couple of weeks. 19:00 Roll call and Prep starts
