IVYTHORN HOUSE

WELCOME TO

IVYTHORN HOUSE

We hold a unique position within Millfield as the only
mixed house in the school. This brings a wonderful
balance of personalities, views and talents to our
community and we are very fortunate to be able to
enjoy the benefits of this.

I arrived at Millfield as a part-time teacher in
September 2010, having previously worked full-
time in one large, maintained school, a school in
Hong Kong, and three UK independent schools. I
was predominantly a French teacher for many years
and then combined this with teaching English as
an Additional Language. I am now teaching CELS
at Millfield and am also a qualified Dyslexia/SpLD
teacher. My principal extra-curricular activity is the
Duke of Edinburgh Award, which I have been involved
in for over 35 years.

I was an Assistant Houseparent in Ivythorn from
September 2014 to December 2016 and a Year 9
Group Tutor in The Lakes before that. My husband,
Rob, was also a teacher and we have three children:
Ralph (21), Giles (18) and Emilia (17).
