GENERAL INFORMATION

The timetable opposite sets out a typical day for the girls of DAILY
Warner House. ROUTINE

EARLY DAYS AT WARNER HOUSE
One of the joys of boarding life is the variety that every By Wake-up
day brings. However, it is important to have structure and 07:00
becoming familiar with the House routine will be part of the By Year 10 sign in and leave for
initial induction programme.
07:30 breakfast
Together with this, the sustained induction programme will
introduce school systems and house rules, with the aim of By Year 11 sign in and leave for
ensuring each girl’s effective integration into the busy life at 07:40 breakfast
Millfield.

There will be daily house meetings to provide the By Lower Sixth sign in and leave for
opportunity to get to know the staff, the Heads of House, 07:50 breakfast
and the other girls, and to talk through any issues and
concerns. Nonetheless, even the most confident and By Upper Sixth sign in and leave for
outgoing student will have bad days, feel homesick, struggle 08:00 breakfast
with their prep or miss their old friends. Everyone gets
homesick at some point; it takes some longer to adjust
than others. If your daughter does go through a low patch, 08:35 Register with group tutor
particularly in the first few weeks, please do not hesitate
to call us to discuss the issues. However, from experience 09:00 Lessons start
we have found that the more you are on the phone to your
daughter during this time, the less time they have to socialise
and build friendships with their new peer group. Think 17:30- Supper in dining room
about arranging regular phone calls at agreed times and try 18:40
to resist the temptation to take her home each weekend Roll call in Common Room
or call her every day. We advise that no exeats should be 18:55
taken during the first two weekends of the academic year.
We know this is hard, but all the house staff will be on hand 19:15- Silent Prep time
to support your daughter, and for the vast majority of the 20:45
students this period of uneasiness will last no more than a 20:45 Snacks and relax in House
couple of weeks.
