ETONHURST
WELCOME TO
ETONHURST
It is a real pleasure to welcome you all to Etonhurst
House, commonly known as the ‘Hurst’. The
house has a strong ‘house spirit’ and boys are very
supportive of each other.
I joined Millfield in September 2016 from a girls’
grammar school in Buckinghamshire where I was
the Director of Teaching and Learning and subject
leader for Psychology, Sociology, Business and
Economics. I am a psychology teacher and the
teacher in charge of badminton. I have been a
liaison at Warner, Assistant Housemistress at both
Walton and Portway and this will be my sixth year
in Etonhurst.
Prior to my teaching career, I worked in London as
a buyer for Marks and Spencer. I have also achieved
the status ‘Specialist Leader of Education’ from
the National College of Teaching, which recognises
my development work with a range of different
schools. I am also a keen badminton player,
having represented my county for many years.
However, my interest is now one of coaching and
development, working with Somerset County to
develop the provision in the South West.
Etonhurst House has a long history and has been
in existence since 1961. It was originally housed in
Ashcott Village a few miles from the current site
and was reborn on Chindit Avenue in 2002.
We aim to provide a relaxed and caring
environment in which everyone feels safe and
respected. A real home away from home that the
boys look forward to returning to at the end of a
busy day.
