ACACIA HOUSE
WELCOME TO
ACACIA HOUSE
Acacia House is the girls’ boarding Year 9 house. Our aim is to support
and nurture the girls through the year developing their confidence,
productivity and resilience. Our primary goal is to run a happy house
where girls show mutual respect, kindness and empathy towards one
another.
Over the past ten years, I have worked in boarding and managed houses
within other independent school settings. I have been at Millfield since
January 2014 and was Assistant Housemistress at Kernick for two years
before becoming housemistress at Acacia, where I live in the house with
my partner Matthew. In school, I am also a teacher of Food Studies,
teaching all year groups. Matthew manages a business in the energy
sector and spends most of the time commuting to and from Devon. I
have two stepdaughters, Izzy and Beth, who spend alternate weekends
with us here. We also have two cheeky Labradors, Nala and Arlo, and a
cat called Angus. They are kept out of the boarding house, but they love
lots of attention when it is on offer!
We are very excited to know that you are joining our happy little
community and can’t wait to know you better. Acacia’s location is
superb, right in the heart of the campus and close to the stables,
swimming pool, junior field, golf course, campus astro, athletics track,
classrooms and of course the dining room. Our goal is to provide you
with the support, advice and guidance to help you discover and make
the most of the opportunities Millfield can offer you in all aspects of
your life. We hope you will be very happy here.
